Surveys Say: Americans Want a TOTAL BAN on Human Cloning

"Regardless of how you ask the question, poll after poll shows the American people want a total ban on human cloning," says FRC president Ken Connor.

WASHINGTON, D.C.-- Another poll surveying American's views on human cloning is out and the news is the same. The American public overwhelmingly opposes human cloning. All human cloning.

The Pew Research Center for the People & the Press found 77 percent of Americans oppose scientific experimentation on cloning human beings. In addition, the majority said they opposed it because it was morally wrong. The poll was conducted February 25 - March 10, 2002.

Various polls over the past year have found similar results:

90% of those polled are opposed to the cloning of human beings.

"Family Research Council applauds President George W. Bush for his firm stand against all human cloning and for his public call today to Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle and the U.S. Senate to pass the Brownback/Landrieu bill," said FRC president Ken Connor. "The House has done its job. It's way past time for Sen. Daschle to put politics aside and bring this bill to a vote in the Senate."
